1957 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ CONVERTIBLE

1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible
ID# 5762095762
This stunning example of the Eldorado Biarritz Convertible underwent a very demanding frame-off restoration that was just completed in February of 2009. The 365 CI 325 hp engine and hydramatic transmission were professionally overhauled by a reputable machine shop. At the time of the engine restoration, all the components were overhauled as well. This includes the water pump, generator, power steering pump, voltage regulator, dual Carter 4-barrel carburetors, and fuel pump. In addition, when the body was removed from the frame, all the brake and fuel lines were replaced with new stainless steel tubing. At this same time, the entire drive train was overhauled, including all new ball joints, new coil springs, overhauled steering gear box, new center support bearing, new universal joints; all brake wheel cylinders re-sleeved, new brake shoes, and new shocks. In addition to the wheel cylinders being re-sleeved, the master cylinder was also overhauled, as well as the power brake boost. The exhaust system was also completely redone at the same time. The entire vehicle, including frame, was media blasted, both inside and out, before restoration began. Afterwards, the bodywork began. The entire body was coated with PPG’s best paint line, including 2 coats of Epoxy Primer, 3 coats of Ebony Black paint, and 3 coats of clear. After this, the clear was then color sanded through 3000, and then buffed to a brilliant shine using 3 different compounding steps, followed by hand glaze. The original upholstery was used as a template in producing the new, original style, solid red leather interior, as offered in 1957. The convertible top is also brand new, with rear window, and is controlled by a brand new electric motor and hydraulic cylinders. The interior was completed by a 35 year veteran of the automotive and aviation upholstery field. All the chrome was re-plated to show quality and the stainless was professionally polished. This vehicle comes complete with the Dual 4-barrel carbureted engine, with the unique “Bat Wing” air cleaner. It also features the correct chrome plated cast alloy “Sabre” wheels. The vehicle comes with the original fiberglass parade boot, with the Cadillac Crest outlined in red and buried under 4 coats of clear. With the brilliant luster of the Ebony Black finish, and the warm red leather interior, this is truly a stunning vehicle.
