1956 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE
   INQUIRE

the Auto Collections | LINQ Hotel & Casino | Las Vegas Nevada

1956 Volkswagen Beetle
Chassis Number: 1278491
51,000 Original Miles with a complete body-off the pan restoration.
This beautifully restored example was sold new at Morlee Motors in Greenwich, Connecticut by their star salesman, Malcolm Pray in 1956. Malcolm Pray started a very successful career in cars in 1955 as a Volkswagen salesman for Morlee Motors Inc. -- on the same West Putnam Avenue stretch that he would one day turn into a district of foreign auto dealerships bearing his name. He became sales manager of Blanchard Automobile Corp. after Harry Blanchard acquired Morlee, and soon was named general manager. The dealership became Blanchard-Pray Automobile Corp. and, in 1963, Pray Automobile Corp. From that one showroom followed dealerships for Saab, Porsche/Audi, Mitsubishi, Nissan and Infiniti. Malcolm was a longtime friend and customer of The Auto Collections. The car is a pan off restoration done by Competition Engineering in Tempe, Arizona with the paint done by Dean'os and VIP doing the interior. The engine was done by Born Again Restorations in Henderson, Nevada and has 10 miles since being rebuilt. It is the stock 36 horsepower and the transmission is a non synchro first (original spec), both rebuilt with all NOS parts. In fact, the complete restoration was done of all NOS parts! This absolutely beautiful example runs and drives fantastic! It comes with its original owner’s manual, service booklet and receipts. After it’s time in Greenwich, Connecticut, it went to New Mexico and Arizona for a short time before coming here to Las Vegas. You will not find a nicer example of a 1956 Volkswagen Beetle anywhere.
