1947 CHRYSLER NEW YORKER CONVERTIBLE

1947 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible
Chassis Number: 7057836
Production of the New Yorker commenced in January 1946. The New Yorker was the top of the Chrysler range that encompassed seven models, including the stylish wood-clad Town & Country. Power was a modest 135 hp, but with its big motor, the New Yorker had ample torque to move the car with authority. This car sold new in Montana with a base price of $2,193. This French Gray 1947 New Yorker convertible remained with its original owner until the late 1960s. A well-maintained original Chrysler, it then passed into the hands of a collector where it was preserved and driven sparingly for 32 years. About eight years ago it was subjected to a fastidious restoration. The engine, transmission, suspension and all mechanical and electrical components were rebuilt to the highest standards. The body was refinished in its original stunning gray hue, and the interior was retrimmed in the correct glazed red leather with Highlander Plaid cloth inserts. With all chrome carefully replated and a new burgundy convertible top, the restoration was an overwhelming success. Since completion, this stunning Chrysler New Yorker Convertible Coupe has been driven from San Francisco to Lake Tahoe, gathering admiring glances wherever it passed. In pristine mechanical and cosmetic condition, it is hard to imagine an example with a more complete history or in better condition.
