1968 SHELBY MUSTANG GT500KR FASTBACK
1968 Shelby Mustang GT500 KR Fastback
23,000 Original Miles!
Sold new to a Mr. Arturo Herrera of Guatemala in 1968. This car made history when it raced on the quarter mile tracks in Guatemala in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s and still carries its original racing wheels. The car was then purchased by a Mr. Victor Passarelli of Guatemala. Mr. Passarelli owned the car until 1998 when he sold it to the current owner. At some point the car was repainted Orange and later painted Beige. When the current owner purchased the car, he stripped the car to bare metal and repainted the car its original red color. The car has never been in an accident and the engine has never been taken apart. Since this car was made to be exported it was not equipped with pollution controls required by the United States. The car remained in Guatemala until August of 2005 when it was then shipped to The Auto Collections in Las Vegas, Nevada. "KR" stood for "King of the Road". The GT-500 KR used Ford's new Cobra Jet GT engine opposed to the 428 c.i. engine used in the '67 and '68 GT500's. The 335-hp claimed by Shelby is most likely a gross understatement. The number given by Shelby was to lower insurance costs.
A total of 933 GT-500KR fastbacks were produced.
