1959 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE CONVERTIBLE

1959 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible
ID# 2443074
If you are ever going to be in the market for a classic pre-1960 Volkswagen Convertible, take a close look at this one because it may be a long, long time before you find another as nice without having paid "full restoration" prices! The previous owner owned the car for 30 years. This has been a California car since new with the prior owner having resided in Huntington Beach, CA. In 1982 the prior owner did a restoration that included paint, chrome, top, and interior. Money wasn't an issue at the time, he wanted to do it right. He wanted a clean original look to the car, but because this intended to be a driver that he was going to enjoy out on the road and not just a show car, he wasn't interested in a 100 point original restoration car, just a great looking old convertible. As you can see this car has been well taken care of over the years and is still a real "head turner” any where it goes. It can be driven off and enjoyed immediately by the new owner. The car still has the original front and rear clips, has never been hit other than a 1970's fender mash and still has the original serial numbered 36 HP engine in it! (Factory letter provided), a rare occurrence when these engines were "a dime a dozen" and swapped out like gas filters. Also, the original "crash box" transmission and 6 volt electrical system are working fine. The only obvious non-period sheet metal on the car is the later "button" rear convertible deck lid. During the 1982 restoration, the original deck lid had some moisture rot in the lower edges and it was replaced with a new NOS later 60's convertible lid. The 26 year old paint job has many various small chips and scratches in it from over the years, but as you can see, it still shines! The top was the best vinyl top you could purchase at the time.
